August 3 2014

Well, it hasn't been quite a year since I last posted, but getting closer every day. After reading another blog I felt inspired to write.

We have had a wonderful summer. Our family took a trip that included the Manti pageant and a large section of the west coast. It was so nice to have time together and nothing scheduled! Also nice to get a break from the commitments and requirements at home. After returning home, we have focused on establishing habits of doing our chores daily and practicing the piano (girls). DJ had a great hike with his brothers and is getting ready for an upcoming fishing trip with co-workers. I have just a bit over a week before school starts and the girls will start a few days after that. It will be nice to be back into our regular school year routine.

DJ, Kimball and I attended a baptism last night. I played the piano. It was so nice and the spirit was strong. I have had many opportunities this summer to play the piano or organ. It's been good to play more as I find myself leading and playing less during the school year. Looking forward to Sacrament meeting today. Started my fast a bit earlier yesterday so I'm feeling a bit weak this morning.

Hope all is well with you! Have a great Sunday!

November 13

As  I sit here in the warm sunshine the song My fathers house is running through my mind: Won't you come with me to my father's house, to my father's house, to my father's house.  Won't you come with me to my father's house there is peace, peace, peace. I'm feeling the peace. :)

Another week

That title sounds so blah. However, much of my time is like that - another week, same as last in many ways. Same places, same routines. It would be easy to feel like I'm in the movie Groundhog Day. This past week I was ill. Glad to be getting better and having had a wonderful restful weekend! What a blessing!

So many thoughts and ideas. So little time! Still, making progress on lesson plans and schedules for school. The kids are doing great! Had a really good weekend with them too. I am so glad that I was able to go to visit Gene & JoAn over Labor Day weekend. As they get older, you never know when you will see them next. As they are moving far away, it was a little tough to say goodbye. I am so glad that I can visit with them on the phone or on Skype. Here's hoping for a smooth transition to this next phase of their lives!

A great week ahead! Make your week wonderful!

Back to School

Once again, I am heading back to school. Much excitement and a bit of anxiety. Yesterday was the first day back and it was great! I am riding my bike to school - so far so good! I was surprised at how many children noticed that I had gotten my hair cut over the summer. So much to do today. It is really good that I get a day off a week. It helps to keep things going at the house, like laundry, dishes, etc.

Hope all is well with you!

16 January 2013

I had to post this today. Conversation between DJ and myself:

Me: If you want me to have visible eyelashes, I need to get some mascara.

DJ: When I get that close, I close my eyes.

REALLY?!?

Happy New year to all! I'm enjoying my job - just feverishly working to be organized and prepared. At some point I will be able to slow down. It really is fun, though. Heading to Utah for the weekend! Have a wonderful day!

8 October 2012

Thanks for the well wishes and encouragement! It all helps :) Just got word this afternoon that my background check cleared and I'm ready to begin volunteering. Got word that it will only be a volunteer position - no $$ to hire someone. I'm heading in tomorrow afternoon and looking forward to it! Lead kindly light.....one step enough for me. This is the next step. I'll let you know how it goes. Have a wonderful FHE!

6 Oct 2012

First, I have to say how much I've enjoyed General Conference today! It started with a bang and just kept going strong. The new announcement about missionary age requirements being changed was amazing! Having a daughter planning on serving a mission, it really moves the timeline up for us. I told DJ he needs to work extra hard and get his sales going!

Second, I want to tell you what's been going on with me. The interviews went fine, still no job. Sept 11th I got a stomach bug and my life turned upside down. My body rebelled at the stress I'd been giving it and decided to take a break. Now, almost a month and two doctor visits later, I realize that the stress was too much and I'm finally starting to feel better. I'm back on my probably life long medication :( As much as I like to think I can do it on my own, I have been shown again and again that I can't. I spent two weeks in bed with a horrible stomachache. Lost a bit of weight as I didn't eat for almost a week and then very little for the next week. Ended up going through several seasons of Andy Griffin and quite a bit of BYUtv too. Finally, I'm up and at it again. I have been given a gift in that I have a much better understanding now of the trials that others go through. I'm so glad that I'm feeling better. More than anything, I have learned how important it is to let others know how much they mean to us. I just read several blog posts from family and am so grateful for each of them. Thank you for being a part of my journey! As I read of your experiences, and trials - I am grateful for your positivity, negativity and reality.

Finally, the job update: if my background check clears, I will be volunteering teaching music for an indefinite period of time at a local school. Things are interesting for us, as I know they are for you too. I'm just focusing on what we have, not what we lack. I'm so grateful for my girls and DJ. They make home what it is for me. Enjoy conference Sunday!
