Good Morning! We've got a busy couple of days ahead but I had to take time and thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Especially in this case, we are relieved and happy for her to pass on. Her last words were - I want to go! DJ has been asked to dedicate the grave, and he and the other grandchildren will be singing a hymn - I will play for it (just the musical number - not all the music).

Question for today: What's the most useful gift you've ever been given?

So many gifts come to mind....However where it's Monday (following Sunday full of church) - I'll say this physical body. It really is an amazing thing - and allows us to do so much. Even in a handicapped state - it's worth having because we can learn and grow so much quicker with it than without. We're going to be doing the lesson on Bodies tonight for FHE - including the glove and the box part. I remember teaching Kimball this before we went to Mimi's funeral. It makes it so much easier for children to understand - really matter of fact in a sense.

Well, she's gone. I don't have the details yet - but DJ got the call just a bit after 5 this morning. He's off at the hospital now.....Such an interesting peace in my heart. It's really a blessing because she was so bad off - they weren't sure if she would be able to follow instructions in rehab for her hip even! Thanks Grandma Jo and Grandpa Gene for your thoughts.

Question for today: What is the most expensive gift you've ever recieved?

Monetarily - Dan and Kaye helped us purchase our first home. Otherwise - Love. I'm not the easiest person to love and those closest to me have probably felt the price rather high at times. Thanks for loving me regardless of the cost.

Thank you for your comments. It was really nice to get on this morning and read all your thoughts. It's a bit of a tough time here. DJ's grandma F who has alzheimer's really bad - broke a hip last Sunday and had surgery to repair it on Monday. She seemed to be doing well until Tuesday night - when we got a call that she wasn't expected to make it through the night. We hurried off to the hospital and spent a few hours there. Since then she's stabilized but still not expected to recover. We're just waiting now - an unusual experience for us. DJ was able to spend several hours at the hospital yesterday.....So you can see how nice it was to hear from everyone :) Thanks

I'm listening to Harry Potter as I write - so I'll probably keep it short today.

This is entirely too personal to answer here. But I want you to each answer this for yourselves - in a journal or somewhere else. What a blessing to be able to pull out all those special memories and enjoy them again!

Thanks for your support and love - I'm so glad that I've had several years to get to know Grandma F before she got so bad. We even did a little personal history interview a few years ago. I was able to make a DVD of that and Grandma D's interview - (Kaye's mother). We gave that to them for Mother's/Father's day this year. I can't think of a better gift than to give someone's mother (as they knew them) back to them. Have a wonderful day!

Sorry to have missed a couple of days - life just got too busy to post! We have our usual 7 girls Tuesday going here - with a side of salad for a funeral and a ward dinner to take a main dish to tonight. All in all - good and busy. I have to be busy early this week because once those CD's get here - I have a feeling productivity is going down! They should be here tomorrow !!! Yesterday we cleaned house - deep cleaned most of it. Then we had a bit of shopping to do. After that I was too tired to think about the computer.

So enjoyed the responses - Sarah - that was really deep! And grandpa - I share your regret about not being the author of the Harry Potter books. Although - like winning the lottery - it probably would change my life in ways I wouldn't like. Another book I highly recommend is The Overspent American. Don't remember the author's name - Judith something....I think. Another about consumption......probably my favorite of all the books on the topic. I'm reading from some book with talks from the BYU Women's Conference - not sure of what year - the name had something to do with Light. It has been very good, too.

So the question today: What's the most mysterious thing about the opposite sex?

That has me thinking about the mysterious ticking noise! I really can't think of the most mysterious thing - some days it's all a mystery to me - especially when we're a little out of sync with each other.

I had to chuckle as I read your response, Regan! If I think about the questions too hard - it's too much for me. I just try to say whatever comes to mind first. Sometimes I think later - I wish I had said....But I am glad to get something down - even if it's not the best response I could give (given time). It intimidates me just a bit sometimes thinking of what all the readers will think of my responses - but I try not to think about that either. Are you getting the overall picture of no thinking going on?!? I have been surprised at how quickly I'm getting through these questions - not that I'm close to being done with this round or anything but it was a pretty stuffed little box and now it's not nearly so stuffed!

Since I've ordered the Harry Potter Cd's - we're waiting a few more days to get them. They should be here the 25th! So no body tell me anything!!!

We went to the drive in movie last night. It was such fun! They had Ratatoille and the new Pirates of the Carribean movie. I couldn't resist. Our previous experiences haven't been terribly wonderful so I was a little lerry. I also wasn't sure I'd stay awake long. I had a headache comming on - so I elected to take some Eccedrine (really will have to learn how to spell that sometime). It worked like a charm - no headache, less pain overall and I stayed awake and enjoyed both movies!

Question of the day: What is the longest walk you've ever taken?

If I count hikes - I'd say 18 miles :) Crazy I know....The furthest I've ever run is 4 miles.

Great gifts! It was fun to hear about all of them. I agree that it depends on your definition of large :) Interesting that a question can be interpreted so many different ways!

We are trying to get things together today - off to see S. Then back here for helping that gal with family history (today worked better than yesterday). Anyway - it seems like we're always somewhat busy!

There have been times that I have been without words. In the past it didn't happen very frequently - but now it's easier to just sit and enjoy or experience the moment. I especially remember DJ arranging with some RS sisters in college to ask me in a creative way to a dance - He had something typed up that he got to the Pres. She asked me to read this "spiritual thought" to the group. It totally took me by surprise - started really nice like those thoughts do and then asked me out. Anyway- that's my most memorable speechless moment!

Great answers yesterday! Some of these questions really make you think - and then some others are much easier! It's always fun to see what the new question will be.

I think a gal I visit teach is comming over today for some family history help. You never really know until they show! Anyway - it's easy stuff - downloading gedcoms from the www.familysearch.org and then merging them in PAF. I reviewed how to do it today - just to make sure I remembered. It really is easy, though. This is a good thing to do if you have family history work that's been done and you don't have a record of it (or even a record of anything, really). It saves you a ton of data entry - always good in my book :)

So - the question today is: What is the largest gift you've ever recieved?

Very good question - making me think......Off the top of my head I'd say Mckay - a gift from heaven (10 lbs 3 oz). I'm sure there have been large gifts - I just really don't remember. If as Mckay likes to say you "thinked about it for me" and remember something I've forgotten - please remind me :) Thanks in advance. Answer it for yourself. I guess the subjective part is how you define the word "large".

First of all - Kudos to Sarah for answering the question a couple of days ago! I am finally ready to say something about it - I think the child I was would be surprised to see the adult I've become and pleased at the same time. I was a lot quieter - even shy as a child and I'm certainly not that now. What a blessing to have experience mature and refine us. I always had plans to work outside the home and I don't currently do that. What I do is important and it works for me, though.

I wasn't sure I'd make it to post today. Just been a day.....but I'm on now so that counts! My find of the day is the feature on Photoshop Elements - divide scanned pictures (or something like that). When it's working it saves me a lot of mousework! I'm running into a low disk space issue - so I have to stop periodically. That's probably good, though. After finding this feature today I'm optimistic again that this really won't take that long after all! I've got about 510 "pages" to divide yet. But hey - this is so speeding things up. I love computers and all they can do for us! One of these days I need to get back to the family history research - maybe this fall?!?

We had a wonderful experience today - went to visit an old lady in our ward whose birthday is today - and wished her a happy birthday! Her husband passed away this past year and she's having a hard time. It was so nice to brighten up her day - it brightened mine at the same time!

Question for today: What is one vacation destination that many people think is fabulous, but which you personally have no desire to ever visit (or revisit)?

I've been thinking about this for probably an hour - and my final answer is Alaska. Sort of.....I do want to drive the Al-Can highway someday - just to say I've done it. But I don't want to visit Alaska further than that - just too remote and cold for my tastes!

Ok so technically it's the evening of the 16th - but I'm trying to get ahead a bit - a busy day ahead tomorrow. Friends comming over - lunch at the park, etc. It's going to be full of activity!

So I'm doing my question this evening:If you were to name the aboslute best gift you recieved as a child, what would it be?

Tricky tricky tricky! I remember some dress up shoes from when I was really little. I loved those shoes - they got lost in a move I think.....I also remember how badly I wanted some roller skates - and then got them! That was a wonderful feeling. That's about all I remember - so I'd have to say one of those :)

Someone had to have the old-fashioned phone ringtone! It's actually quite unique - and complimentary in my world :) I'm keeping the Harry Potter one probably until I get through the last book. It makes it fun. Then I'll have to put on something else. It will be easy this next time - it's all set-up now! I am already looking forward to the Christmas ring-tones - Carol of the Bells especially. Silly I know - but in this heat one has to think of something cooler.

It's been a long weekend already - even though it's flying by. When the eccedrine runs out I'm going to crash! Headache time of the month - ugh! Unfortuately, the medicine kept me awake last night and I had to take more this morning - so when it's gone I'm going to be really tired.

DJ got the toilet fixed - Hooray! It had to have the handle jiggled every time you flushed. As we don't have a shut-off valve by the toilet - we had to turn the main off. I'm so glad it's fixed! Kind of important when it's the only bathroom......

Question for today: Your close friend asks - and genuinely wants - your opinion on something, but your opinion is one that he is likely to find quite painful. Would you tell him the truth?

Two thoughts on this. Tell him that your answer will be painful - and ask if he still wants it. Otherwise couch it in a way that won't hurt. Something like - "My mother once said.....(mothers are always expected to say strange and painful things and excused for it)" or "If I were less of a friend I would probably say.....(and give the opposite of your opinion)". If your friend really wants your opinion - they must have doubts about their own opinion. I do try to keep my opinion to myself unless asked. Doesn't always happen - but I do try :)

Friday the 13th! I was really discouraged last night - thought I had really messed up my phone. What a difference one button pushed makes! All is well! Ringtones are really fun - especially when you can make them yourself! I will warn you, it can be a bit complicated - and intense when you think it's not working. But in the end I've done it! I did it before but forgot and had to learn again. Here's where to start: http://www.harrythompson.com/ These instructions are for Nextel/Sprint phones (what I have). If you have a different phone, you might have to do some searching. If you follow the links on Harry's page - it takes you through step by step - including troubleshooting. I found songs that I liked and captured them using Audacity (or your can use Audacity to edit CD music you already have) - to create WAV files that I converted to the format I needed using dBpoweramp Music Converter (instructions on Harry's page) - then used WebJal to load them onto my phone (via a usb cord that has an end that fits my phone). I did mention that it was complicated - right?

I wouldn't mind sharing my WAV files to save some time if anyone likes - I have some really funny ones! I'll give you a quick rundown of my ringtones at present: Harry Potter song (edited a bit for time - ending with the Hogwarts part), Voldemort (little bit at end), Old Telephone ring sound (for Gene and JoAn :)), The Pick a little talk a little song from the music man (seemed appropriate), I would walk 500 miles (Proclaimers song - again edited for time - assigned to DJ), a MIDI song Animaniacs (for when my girls call me), and just a little bit of "Have you ever been in love" - not currently assigned. It's stuff I like :)

Even though it's complicated I find it to be tremendously satisfying to get songs I like that I probably couldn't get for the most part the other way because they're not as popular - and I get them for FREE!~

I'm rather tired now! On to the question: If you could choose only four things to eat or drink ever again, what would they be?

Wheat Bread, Peanut Butter, Water, Popcorn (buttered & seasoned) - I guess I could have named dishes instead of basic ingredients :) That would be my list. I have wheat toast with PB every morning - you have to have water, and I love having popcorn!

The movie was really good - although even I noticed changes from the book - but enjoyable nevertheless! Fight scenes were really dramatic - Sirius's house was different from how I imagined it - As I mentioned on the Family Site - I thought the actress that played Dolores Umbridge looked remarkably like Sheila's mom - in a good way. Maybe Sheila Sr. might play this up as a second career? I was suprised in how they portrayed her - from the book to the movie but pleasantly surprised with how feminie they made her! Just perfect I thought!
As I watched the previews etc - I especially noticed all the marketing (considering my reading as of late!). This is probably the only movie DJ and I will see in a tradional theater this year - we have seen a couple at the dollar theater. It was really thought provoking! I wanted to make a note for myself that the thought to write something about "reality" came to me during the previews yesterday. Don't know if I will follow through or not - but maybe?

Picture wall - yes all the images are ones I printed off from my computer. The one Becky referred to is not good quality, though :( I got the pictures from "our" side of the family from Gene and Joan. I am happy to send you copies of whatever you'd like - but that one is especially pixelated. I enlarged and cropped off some other individuals. I do like it, though - and on the wall you can't tell how pixelated it is. There's a couple of Dj's side - and my other side too. I am hoping to visit the DUP and get better quality pictures of several of the little ones.
I'll have to think about a phrase or something or other to pull it all together - thanks for the idea, Sharon!

I had planned on spending today working on Dan and Kaye pics - but haven't even started yet - I'm working on making a Harry Potter ringtone from the youtube on Reg's site. Then I started thinking of other songs I like - and here I am still working :)

Question for today: If you could plan a trip anywhere in the world for yourself and your mate, where would you like to go?

I want to go wherever they got the background shots for scenery for Harry Potter! Love that lake by the castle! Anyone know if it's real?

My cabinet is just beyond the shadow line on the left - we have plenty of space to add to this collection - I think we straigtened the frames after we took this picture. I really liked everyone's thoughts on the gifts! That is an interesting topic to think about...Unfortunately I didn't like how the one dessert turned out - the carmel apple part was good, though. So, I won't put the recipie for the other on - just wasn't that great. It was a busy afternoon - I enjoyed having S's 3 girls and they enjoyed being here. We'll have to make this a regular thing.

(Imagine the song from Winnie the Pooh's Grand Adventure if you know it) - "Today's the day! In only a matter of moments we'll soon be on our way!" We're headed to Harry Potter at 1 - DJ even took the day off for that and some much needed chores around the house. Cory will be over to babysit so we can even have a lunch out! I am pretty excited about this! Haven't read anyone else's blogs to see if they are going today....I know some people feel that the movies aren't as good as the book and I agree - to a point. My mind won't hold on to all the details so I can really enjoy the movie and when I go back to the book - I'm reminded (it really seems like I didn't read it before :)) Silly I know...

I'm trying to think of a Harry Potter Theme lunch - I'll have to have some Butterbeer (Root Beer today but I do have a recipie that I've made before). Maybe a salad (just cause I like those - we'll call it a herbology experiment or something). Chocolate dessert (made by the house elves of course). I know it's a stretch but it is fun.

Question for today: If you could invent a holiday, what and when would it be? What special traditions would take place on that day?

Today I'd have to say a Harry Potter Day - probably on his birthday (July or August? - Told you I don't remember details). There are so many possible things to do.... Any other day I'd probably say that I wouldn't invent one - I'd just make a not-well known one official - Festivus! It was a holiday made up by the Seinfeld show. I googled it and some people DO celebrate it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus I think the thing that was most funny was that it had elements from general holidays - the wrestling matches, the airing of grievances, etc. Not that these are official elements - but given the levels of stress that we sometimes subject ourselves to - the worst comes out. Maybe with a holiday just for this "stuff" - we could enjoy the rest of the holidays more? Not that I think this stuff should come out at all!

But, today is Harry Potter day - so we'll be out celebrating! Have a magical day!

Hello again. We're going this morning - and I've got to hurry so I can stop at the store before piano lessons! RS dinner tonight and I'm making some dessert. I got the recipies from the Semi-Homemade show on Food Network - Light Dessert episode. It looks to be yummy.

Glad I could help with seasonal song ideas - Becky! I must say I wouldn't have thought of it myself - the gal I was subbing for asked me to do them :) Interesting reading everyone's thoughts on pain. Aren't we all glad to have pain-relievers!?! It's just a short time waiting for them to kick in. I do wonder what memories my girls will have of growing up - I try to keep their lives as normal as possible. But I still wonder if I do enough......

I am excited to hear how the yard sale goes for Spencer! That sounds like a great way to accomplish his goals. I have heard that this whole process is spendy......Good Luck Guy!

Speaking of spendy, here's the question for today: What is the most expensive gift you've ever given?

I think I know right off - money wise that is. A digital camera! - which we thought was such a great gift - we gave it twice (two recipients). That was not this financially frugal year :) However as I think about it - not money wise, the gift that seemed the hardest (a gift that keeps on giving and must be given many times) personally to give was the gift of forgiveness. It took a lot more effort and genuine feeling (emotional cost) to give that gift. How about you? Which do you think is harder - monetary or otherwise?

The header of my blog has pictures of Kimball and Taylor! When asked to smile - this is what she gives us :) What a cheesy girl! I need to fix the haircut - that's on the list for today. I have to hurry with this blog - I need to get to the store before it gets hot!

I read a quote in an email this morning about being a better person. It said, "Don't give `til it hurts.Give `til it feels good."How true this is! The more we give to others the better we feel. Holding on to "things" is not what makes life happy. Sharing and seeing others enjoy things is such a fun experience. Instead of holding on to clothes that my children no longer need, it makes me smile to see another little girl/boy wearing what my child used to wear. I get to smile all over again remembering my child being that age! Instead of smothering under clutter..my heart is lighter and I feel good! No yard sale..just give it away.Sharing with others is a gift to ourselves!! The more we give, the better we feel! As the Bible says, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Me again - I really liked that thought - and wanted to share it with you.

Question of the day: Imagine you got hit by a car and could be saved only by a special operation. The operation would give you a normal, happy life, but would unfortunately cause you fifteen minutes of terrible, stabbing pain every morning when you awoke. Would you want to have the operation?

Interesting question. I think knowing you will only have to suffer 15 minutes daily would be tolerable and definately make life worth living. As for myself - every morning as I wake up - I have gradually increasing pain. The longer I lay the worse it gets - until it's about a 4 on the pain scale. Once I get up (sharp twinges) things limber up and I am able to do OK for the most part. I still feel like I excercised way to hard most days (exhaustion and muscle aches) but I'm still able to do what I want. Yesterday I did the primary music - It was so much fun but I was really surprised at how hard it was for me to do - after each song I needed to sit down so I kept my chair (hard metal!) close and eased into it (I tend to be clumsy at times and kept worrying I'd fall off the chair!)- but it went ok for the most part. *Side note for Sarah - two things that were really fun - Singing pioneer songs (Pioneer children sang as they walked) with a sleepy attitude. It was fun seeing the kids yawning through the song and it ended as quietly as if we had sang it reverently! Also we did the Hello song with Hello, Hola (spanish branch is part of our primary) - I couldn't believe they hadn't done that before - the spanish children really perked up and got excited that we sang it that way! * Anyway - this question seems really personal to me. Is life worth living if you experience pain on a regular basis. I'd have to say yes! WE'RE NOT HERE ON VACATION AFTER ALL! My attitude isn't always great - but I work with what I have - I don't know how to do it otherwise :)

So fun to read all the comments! I thought briefly about putting the mac and cheese deal on - but then figured someone else would - Sorry everyone! Anyway - we can bring some down for you, Grandma when we come at Thanksgiving - if you would like. I don't know right off how many cases are downstairs - but it's several! I'd bring some for you too, Becky - but I'm not sure if they'd be more hassle than they were worth at the airport.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday - another busy day. I had a wonderful time hanging out with S all day! Although the contractions stopped the other evening - they are up and going again. She's on 2 different medicines that are supposed to stop things - but it's really not working. If she makes it until her doctor's apt on Wednesday - they'll check to see if the cervix is breaking down. They're not sure how productive the contractions are now - but they are strong. So - we're keeping a close eye on her. I'm going to run some ice cream over later - part of our gift to her daughter :) This same girl is planning a career in the hairdresser field - she gave Hinckley a trim yesterday - not too bad of a job:

The bangs can be combed - over - and I didn't notice the side tapering right away. Very subtle! When I took this pic - I asked them to stand together - then said "Raise your hand if you cut hair" - Very Silly!

Someday I'll get a rest. I've just got too much to do today. Tomorrow I am substituting for the Primary Chorister - who just had a baby. Not sure how that will do me :) Pressing forward anyway.

Question for today: What is it you like best about your mate's personality. What do you like the least?

I like how even-keeled DJ is - he is the voice of reason in my life :) I joke about his multiplier - the actual time it will take him versus the amount he estimates. Right now it's at 2.5 - but that is an improvement from 3. He likes to do a job well and takes his time to do it - I just like to get it done so I hurry through.

Sarah - keeping one's sanity is enough of an accomplishment for a year! Cory - you are such a tease! Kimball made the bandana with Cory's seamstress assistance. I need to get her over sometime when things calm down for some help with her birthday present (a sewing project from Jared & Cory!). And Ola - no I have no more time in my day - I just have a constant stream in my head of projects to do, housework that needs done, etc. Sometimes I think it's not healthy! Plus having older kids - things don't take quite as long as they used to!

All this brings me to today - all of you are wondering what we've been up to, I'm sure. My picture wall still isn't done - It really needs 2 people to do - so it's on hold. We had our campout on the 3rd at Grandma Kaye's house. It was really nice for looking at the stars and all. About the time we arrived, I got a call from my friend S (Sarah really - but I don't want to confuse things with to Sarah's), who needed to go get checked - having contractions that wouldn't stop....she's due in October sometime. She asked if I'd come be with her girls - so I just headed to her house and picked the girls up and they joined the campout! They were so excited and my girls got even more excited as the friends arrived. All in all - we had 7 little girls, one mom and one dad in our new tent! It did great - everyone slept well and had enough room. Next morning after a leisurely breakfast, we had to take our friends home (the docs got S's contractions stopped).

From here we were home to freshen up a bit - then we took Dan & Kaye to lunch with our little girls. It was a lot of fun - the girls had earned coupons for free meals through the reading program :) Then we came home and started a rest - I was working on reading a book "Born to Buy" - very interesting about marketing to children. Then Jacob called and was so excited telling me about a Macaroni and Cheese deal. I think I was a bit out of it - I didn't understand everything -so we called Jared and he confirmed Jacob's story. We got right up and headed to the store. At 8 cents a box for name-brand mac and cheese - you run! So we cleaned out Jared's store - and proceeded to another in the chain - and bought up the whole middle of the aisle display - 6 cases at that store :) We shared 3 of the cases with S - such a great deal - $4.00 per case! Anyway - then we came home and I finished my book - recommended reading to any and all! I got so tired just laying still - that I didn't make it back to Dan and Kaye's for the fireworks.

Today we did the big shop - Kimball noticed that we handle the products 3 times - once putting it in the cart, once onto the belt, and again loading it in the car - I would add another one at least unloading it at home. I had a bite of lunch - didn't make it to the park today - and then decided I could handle the girls snuggling me watching a movie - so we watched a newer Nancy Drew that was on the Family Channel. I shouldn't have any trouble comming up with something for dinner - after all I just went shopping!

So that's what we've been up to. A lot of nothing it seems - but it tires me out just the same. I did run into Cory at the supermarket! That was fun - we didn't even plan it!

So I've got a stack of 4 more books about consumerism (How much is enough? Not Buying it - and so forth). I have been reading some blogs that I probably find more entertaining than really helpful - but informative, also. It's making me think!

I really plan on taking it easy one of these days. Thanks for the compliment on the blog header. Just a plopper you can get from Shabby Princess (on her blog - a link). She does a different desktop each month. I discovered this just a few months back - and it's really cheered up my computer. I just have to plop my pictures in.

Most of it is a guess anyway - isn't it? I think the more you learn, the more you realize how little you know - at least that saying is true for me. I kept thinking about Regan as I was reading this book about marketing - really interesting stuff that I've never learned about at all. I wondered about those classes you're taking - thinking how interesting they could be. I was never interested in history much before I really discovered the history channel - but I realize even at that so much scew (sp?) is in everything. Still - there's so much to learn. I even watched a show about early flight - and the development of pressurized flight suits and cabins (TCM movie). That was interesting - but then on the history channel they talked about Edwards Air Force Base (just had to look back through the blogs and make sure I hadn't already talked about this). It was really fascinating. I couldn't have told you where Edwards Air Force Base was previous to this - and now I've learned a lot about it! I guess that goes to show - you can be interesting and learn things you never thought you would!

We survived yesterday! No crazy tragedy - and I'm so glad! Don't really have much to write about today - we're supposed to be having a bean day. Bean art, Bean foods (Chili) and watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (only we call it Chili Chili Bean Bean on bean day). Something different and fun. We've got errands to run before it gets too hot - so I better get going!

Question for today: What was your greatest accomplishment in 2006?

I barely remember 2006! Let's think......(child crying in background) - surviving these kids! I really have no idea on this question.... Oh yes! - Having the Wilford Woodruff year of the journal and getting back into a journal habit again. That is a good accomplishment.

My 200th post! Very exciting! Now on to the post:

AAAARRRGHHH! We had tragedy yesterday as well - following my blog posting. We put the girls to bed - but they got goofing around and Taylor fell from the top bunk - landing on her back . She of course was really upset - took a bit to calm her down. Then she got really sleepy and was finally - just "out". That really scared us. No open wounds or anything - but she was totally limp - and asleep. We called Dad for some advice (you only thought Grandpa was kidding when he introduced him as a doctor at church!) and he said to try to wake her up in about a half hour. We said a prayer with the little girls - they were really worried too. DJ called and got someone to help give a blessing. Our friend knew something about concussions - and after checking her eyes - said she had one (we could open her eyes and shine the light in and she didn't wake up!). He backed up Dad's advice - so that's what we did. I held her for a while - and when my arms got tired DJ took her from me - and she was stirring - so we encouraged that . She woke up and ate a popsicle - and I asked if she'd like some popcorn (a favorite with her). She stayed awake for probably about 40 minues - and then was sleepy again. We put her to bed and DJ checked on her before he went to sleep - she would stir when touched. This morning she came out like nothing had happened and said - "Hailey's here!" Hailey wasn't here and she was disappointed - but we were so relieved. I don't think I can take many more days of drama like this. I guess we're glad we don't have little boys - that are rumored to be more adventurous.

Deep breath! I hope today is totally uneventful. Yikes!

Question for today: You have arranged an evening with a friend, but on the day preceeding your date a special opportunity arises to do something much more exciting. How do you handle the situation?

Piece of cake! This has happened (sort-of) many times. DJ and I make plans - then some school event or other comes up and I inform him that we will be altering our plans. We try to still do what we have planned - but at least make an appearance at the other thing as well. But I would really invite my friend along .....

Very sad news to being with. After the sad event happened - Kimball asked - did you already do your blog? (yesterday) and I said "yes." to which she repied - "too bad!" How's that for an introduction. I will post no pictures - because it really is too graphic. Here's what happened: Yesterday we were just getting ready to turn the sprinklers on for the girls to run in - and they were doing the pre-run in the backyard. Hinckley had a plastic hollow dowel (princess tent support) in her mouth and DJ had just told her to get that out while she was running. She tripped - it scored the roof of her mouth and punctured the back right before the hanging down thing (I cant' spell the name of it - I do know the name). The other end of the dowel implanted in the grass about an inch! She starts crying/screaming - and we rush to her. Right off there was no blood - but by the time DJ got her in the house - she was bleeding out of her nose and mouth. We got the bleeding cleaned up - and somewhat stopped and took her in to the quick care (fully expecting to be sent to the ER). They saw her - and she was really calmed down at that point. The NP prescribed some antibiotics (prophylactic) and said she should heal fine! I was really surpised that was it. It seemend much more traumatic!

The real adventure came when trying to get her to eat last night - soft foods only. She had a gogurt before she decided she didn't like cold foods. She didn't like the orange jello, the macaroni was too much. So - it was a bit of a long evening but the Tylenol really helped. She's doing well now - up to fruit snacks. I think she's going to make it. Still, I feel so bad that she got hurt so!

Question for today: If you could script the basic plot for the dream you will have tonight, what would the story be?

The ones I get are so much crazier than I could ever come up with on my own - I'll stick with them. Oh - I did have a dream last night that my sis-in-law Tina announced she was pregnant. I'll have to call and ask her - or maybe not - just wait and see ;)

We're going to spend the rest of today recovering - following a full morning of church. Have a nice Sabbath everyone!
