31 July 2009

Thanks a bunch Regan! I have so enjoyed reading your blog and seeing all the fun you are having! I updated my goodreads today - been reading again :) It doesn't get much more exciting than that - reading and laundry ;)

Had so much fun catching up on google reader today - found some great blogs that I'm going to have to follow - just too cute! That sentence doesn't even do justice to my great hour or so today...Oh well!

Kimball went with Grandma Sue to the farmer's market last night - pretty slow! I think they had a good time selling suckers and all, though.

I'm full of blog ideas until I sit down to type....Sorry! Have a great day anyway! I've got a date tonight :)

29 July 2009

Had my second shift at the Family History Center today. I've finished my training on the new program. It's pretty cool! We'll still need to use other resources for research - but it should really streamline things. I printed out my first (and second) Family Ordinance Request today. It could have been just one request - but I am new to this. Now you just take a piece of paper to the temple and they print you cards! Kimball is scheduled to do baptisms for the dead later this month and I have some family names for her to do. :) If anyone doesn't have access to this program and wants to get some family names ready for the temple - drop me a line! I'm happy to help. We need your complete name, birthdate and helper number. Call me if you are interested. I can explain what your helper number is and how you already should know what it is. We can work over the phone and get things all taken care of. I am allowed to help people through my access. It's legit.

Hope everyone (who is there) is having a great time at Disneyland. Thinking of you! So enjoyed the wedding and reception. It was really great to talk to everyone. :) Happy thoughts!

Thinking of my friend A - who is having a baby next week! The time's really flown for me - hope it's not crawling too much for you. :) Thanks for your phone help over Opera. Got the music and just need to take time to practice more.

FYI - to Grandma Jo - your sister Betty is trying to get ahold of you. Not sure how to coordinate that...whether you have a cell phone, etc. or just want to wait until you're home to talk to her.

That will have to do for now....Later!

700! Today is my 700th post! I wanted to show you what I made for the gift. Take a look:

Not the best picture - but I was running short on time. It's in Portugese - of course! Hope they enjoy it. Wish I had something great to say today - but nothing's coming. Monday is a busy day here for me - Laundry, Kids, Dinner, etc. I know that some of you have that everyday - but Monday is the main laundry day. Generally I do all the laundry for the week for our family on Monday - line dry even :) So it's busy. Hinks has the FHE tonight and we're going to talk about Fruits of the Spirit (complete with fruit) and Gifts of the Spirit (wrapped up). Should be fun and hold the attention if it doesn't help with understanding. :)

Have a great day!

24 July 2009

Have to look up some pioneer stories today! Wanted to mention - I just finished Mara & Spence's gift. Thanks especially to Jessica Sprague's class. So helpful! I'll put a pic on when we get back from the wedding. :)

So I'm off to pack and get ready in general. Have a great day all!

21 July 2009

Where has the month gone? My girls are bemoaning the fact that they will be back in school in less than a month. Crazy times!

Last night we went and saw the new Harry Potter movie (6). I thought it had a lot more humor in it than previous movies. I know some purists want the movie to totally line up with the book - but I thought it was fine as it was. Kind of like the old plays and operas - that were up to the interpretation of the director and the performers. Gives additional insight, etc. Hinckley and Taylor fell asleep before it was over (thank goodness!).

A bit of news - I have 2 new callings: I team teach the CTR6 with Amanda and also get to be a family history consultant. I am getting trained on the new family history program, etc. Pretty exciting stuff! Should enable all of us to be more easily involved in family history. :) Anyone else doing something similar?

I did take a little movie tour of our current digs. Have to find my camera cord to put it on here. Maybe tomorrow?

Have a great day!

19 July 2009

Had a good Sunday - even though DJ was a bit sick and had to stay home. Oh well! More tomorrow!

18 July 2009

Camelot is a musical I think - not a true "opera" - but it was one of the presentations this year. There is also a movie version of it with Peter O'Toole I think....maybe check that out. Very nice and inspiring.

So I'm home now and waiting for my little chicks to return from camping with DJ. Impatiently waiting I must say.....Oh well! Just got a call from him and he's leaving Missoula at 5:00pm. I had a project that kept me busy for most of today and am in charge of dinner tonight. I am doing breakfast for dinner. One of my favorites!

One of my favorites - cold in summer and warm in winter. Good both ways. :)

Here's a picture of a find from one of the stores this week:

In case you can't read it - Cell Phone picture - it says: Everything is okay in the end. If it's not okay it's not the end.

Love that quote - really helps this time of my life.... :)

You can also see a flower I was turning into a hair pretty. More pictures to come.....

16 July 2009

Good morning! I've been in the hot tub already here at the hotel. Getting ready for breakfast. Should be a great day! We saw the Mikado yesterday afternoon and Carmen last night. Today we see Camelot and Rusticana and Pagliatti (?sp). Should be a great day. Just wanted to check in! Have a great day too!

13 July 2009

Missed another day! Rats! Had a great productive day and got caught up on Jessica Sprague's class. Great stuff! Haven't had a chance to play with anything yet - just got the downloads. Also - Found a great resource: http://visitingteaching.net/blog/2009/07/visiting-teaching-temple-dress-handout/

Don't know if a handout is a regular feature or not - but it sure was nice for this month! I have 259 google reader entries to get caught up on - so I don't know what anyone is up to. Hopefully soon!

DJ enjoys the long drives - but there is long and then there is CRAZY! He's getting ready to take the girls camping this week while I go to the Operas with his mom, aunt, and grandma. Such fun!

Hope things are good with you - I should know after I read the blogs. Loves to alL!

10 Jul 2009

Just a quick one. Can't believe that I missed yesterday - where did it go? DJ is still gone - and hopefully will be home tomorrow. It's too late for much more. I'd put a pic but my computer is not cooperating. Later...

8 July 2009

Today was good - got a bit of work done. I clipped old seed pods off of about half of my mom's lilacs. Really essential stuff (not really!). The best part of it was that it freed my mind for inspiration. I had about 3 promptings while I was working and quit while I still remembered them - then followed through. I love it when it works like that!

So DJ is heading to Nevada tomorrow to get some dirt. Pretty exciting stuff. I won't get to go with him after all - passengers aren't covered by insurance. Oh well! More time for me to enjoy reading. I think this is the most reading I've done in years!

Well, it's getting late and I'm getting sleepy. More later...

7 July 2009

So I missed yesterday. Couldn't be helped, really. DJ drove to Nampa and had to be up at 2:30 AM. Yes - that is correct! Today I took Kimball to a couple of libraries. We had a great time! I'm getting a little glimpse at how great it is to be a mother to a young woman (and looking forward to the other three getting older too!). She is a lot of fun to be with and even used the f word with me (friend).

Thanks for the positive comments on the blog. They do help assuage the guilt. I do love to post and as I haven't been doing it daily, I'm afraid I'm out of the habit. I'll have to pick it back up.

Has anyone else joined goodreads? See the link next to my glamour shot? If you want to know what I'm reading, have read, and planning to read you can check it out. Also what I thought about what I read - usually just a star rating. Anything below 3 don't waste your time. Really a great site for those who enjoy reading and are always looking for a good book.

I saw a link in a book while browsing at Deseret Book - http://seminary.lds.org I have yet to check it out - but it said it had some great stuff to download on it. Having a tween - sounds like just the thing for me. Still haven't had the chance to do much with the moments web site. It does look like fun though. I just wish it had a link to the blogger too!

I hope to check out my photo editing class soon. Just haven't had time yet. Today was bean day - mom canned 30 odd some jars of beans. The bean art is waiting for tomorrow, though. We were also lucky enough to have "Lord of the Beans" veggie tales that seemed to fit in with our theme.

Hope things are well! More later!

Bad, bad, bad....

I feel so bad that I've not been posting better. Hopefully it will pick up soon. I take full responsibility. I have been taking some pics with my phone - and sending them to my email. I will have to share them with you soon. :)

Got a call from a gal interested in the info from the family history book I did. Glad to share a disk with her - and discover some interesting things. DJ's related to her husband....who is just younger than me and went to school with me (as well as an older brother who was my age). Also - turns out DJ did their cabinets for them. Didn't even know they were related! Granted - it's a extended relation - but still!

So enjoyed Becky's visit. Still need to email her a pic. I will do it soon! Don't let me forget :) Rosewood is the keyword....Enjoyed seeing Jared y Cory and kids, Aaron y Kari and kids, and Isaac y Sheila and kids. I think the spanish is sneaking out today just a bit. Every time we sing I am a child of God - I think of the words in Spanish. It's a start :)

So life continues to bring us surprises. And no - I'm not about to announce that we're expecting. Just regular every-day surprises. We think of you all often and hope you are well. I'm on facebook - when I remember to check it which is about as often as this blog. Still, it's something. Also I signed up for something called..www.thismoment.com Should help me manage some things. We'll see :)

Well, that's about it for now. Hang in there! Loves to all!
