I LOL for real at your comment, Becky! I so would spend a ton of time getting ready for someone to come - like cleaning, getting activities prepared, etc. Crazy! But a good idea! I'm going to work something out with my Kimball - a trade of sorts I think. I don't have to prep for her - she knows how it looks and isn't impressed with my efforts :(

I haven't hung out the window yet - but I did rescue a child dropped off by a bus without an adult in sight.....kindergarden :) And in the process met a neighbor! DJ rescued me from a loose battery cable that threatened the food for the local blood drive :) And we had a great time at the dollar store on the last 88 cent day! Such fuN!

I'm ready for a nap!!!

Last day! of September that is....I'm juicing grapes today and considering hanging out my window to fix a hole pecked in the side of the house by birds :) So fun. Haven't decided on that....have one lesson today and a couple other things going....I really just need to live by my computer for a few days and get a ton of stuff finished up! Fat chance of that happening! Oh well!

I'm finishing up Mt. Washmore from yesterday - really did make tremendous progress on it. I'm going to be so glad when it's just DJ & I making laundry to wash - that is when the girls grow up and move out and do their own laundry! It is just a lot of work. Thankless work too!

The girls have a couple of days off school - so I'm wondering what we'll do then....:) Maybe I can talk Kimball into being mini me while I do computer stuff? We'll see I supose!

Ugh! I can't believe I didn't blog all weekend! Ok - here's the rundown - Friday night DJ & I went on a bike ride of 4 - 4.5 miles. Saturday morning DJ had a race - he did well and I went with him. We had a birthday party to attend that took much of the afternoon - then I went to the dinner portion of the broadcast with my MIL and SIL. We decided with 50 minutes until the broadcast begining - we had time to go home and get comfy - so we did. Wasn't Elder Uctdorf's talk wonderful?!? Then DJ took me shoe shopping - I got 5 pairs! It was a big sale....and they are all comfy for me. You should have seen him - it was in a parking lot and he got me sat down, had his headlamp turned on - and just brought me pair after pair to try on. What a trooper!

Sunday was wonderful - we are considering moving our membership to the Spanish Branch. No decisions yet - just prayerfully considering. The stake sent a letter that was read in the wards inviting those interested to attend as the branch goes independant in January. A lot to think about - Primary will be in English as will YM and YW :) So that's good! We'll keep you posted on that later....

I even had a Sunday nap! Today has been nice - lots of laundry and my VTers came - so busy but good. I chuckled when they talked about being anxiously engaged in a good cause.....that's me! Unfortuantely, you shouldn't be so anxious that you need medication :)

I found on a web site that: "The original financial ledgers of the Perpetual Emigrating Fund Company are available at the Church History Library and Archives. Every person who benefited from the PEF were not included in the ledgers. The information that was included in the ledgers includes:

Sounds intriguing! First I need to gather a list of possible recipients, including ones I know recieved help. I just think it would be interesting to know more about this. What was a lot to them was a small amount to us. I did find this link that you can check for a partial list. Definately September today. We have had such a nice week with Mom here with us. The best part? I didn't have to have a baby to get her here for so long! We each had a bit of tummy rumblings but still enjoyed the time together and will remember it for a long time!

SO still no new pages to show - but there's a couple of hours before DJ gets home - who knows what will happen....

Thanks so much to A for being such a great piano teaching mentor - I so appreciate your time! We always have a great time together! She was over last night listening in on a couple of lessons - giving me additional tips and helps to help me be a better teacher. Excited about upcoming lessons to use these ideas! :)

Tomorrow already feels like it's out of control! I hate that. So - DJ and I are having a planning session to figure out how to have a better day and do things that we want to do while still getting things we have to do done. Looking forward to seeing you later, love!

Again - almost August! I don't know what's up with that. Anwyay - so loved seeing Becky's new pages - they are so wonderful! I love to see other's creations - it does make me wish mine looked more like that.....but I remind myself that my current project is very different - and doesn't need many words on each page. I do try to take time to do each page - but I truly am a scrapbooking sprinter rather than a marathoner....In that I want to get it done and quick. Looking for the pictures slows me down some.....

Anyway - I really need to get back to doing some pages. Haven't done any for several days. So I'm feeling a bit guilty for not doing more. SO much to do....so little time. I even took my scrapbook (one of them) to church and made notes about several pages so I know what I want to look for picture wise. I usually pay much better attention - but wasn't feeling well at all. Alas!

So, That's what I'm thinking I need to do most today - some pages. We'll post them here as I finish them. When you're ready to help, Becky - let me know. :) There's plenty of fun for all! And, many of the pages are really basic - so and so was born on such and such at here and there. They married so and so at such and such on this and that. They had this many children. They died on this and that at here and there. So the pages just will have pictures of the places mentioned - as we have no photos of them. Pretty quick, really. But still something!

Well, we're getting ready to head to the library for Storytime. First time in a long while - I'm dreading the crowds. I do have many things to return, though - so I better get going. Have a wonderful day!

No special story about the two pictures page, Reg. Just both BYU the university and the DUP organization were mentioned on the accompanying page and I needed pictures that represented those things.

So today I've been reading Midnight sun - partial draft and enjoying it. Kind of feel like I'm being lazy just sitting at the computer reading - oh well! I have a piano lesson in about a half-hour so I'll be busy soon enough.

Mom and Dad arrived safely and we had a great evening with them, and Jared and Cory and clan. (is that enough ands or what?) A fun week ahead!

My week is filling up...more and more. It's all good....just busy.

I almost put August! Crazy! Well, I'm feeling a bit better today - it's been a long weekend. Not sure why, really.....maybe all that crazy work last Thursday finally caught up with me. Don't remember if I put what I really did - shifting shelves at the school library - to make room for new books, etc. It was really grueling. Today I have another list of things to do. Hopefully I'll get even a portion of them done and feel really great.

Thanks for the ideas, Becky! We're going to review our kits during conference - and make some changes! I happen to know that we have MRE's in there - and they don't even sound appetizing to me. I generally like to make some baked goods and keep them in the freezer (make a ton) - they are always fun to find later. That might really fit in well. :)

Well, no new pages to show....I think I've showed them all.....Just checked and I do have some after all! Here it goes...

Anyway - it's been a long day (24 hours) and I've still got 2 piano lessons and VTing to go. So this will be short. Had to chuckle reading about Regan's slaves - my girls would really go for that idea ;) which is why I won't be mentioning it to them. Hope the health improves. Sorry you're feeling crummy!

I was on yesterday - but didn't post! Can't believe it. Ok - so maybe I can. This is post #500! I almost wish I had more to say....

Wanted to mention that we are now Moo Milk drinkers - using Moo exclusively and the girls haven't even noticed. It's quite a bit cheaper than regular milk - and you make it as you go (by the half or full gallon). Sue has the recipe and DJ makes it for us so I really don't know how to make it myself. I could probably figure it out - but I'm not motivated at present.

I got all my page protectors and story pages (mostly) in my books - so now on to the picture pages. It's a little daunting - but will be good. I'm setting unrealistic goals for the album completion now. :) That's just me!

What else? Our Sabbath Day Sundae activity is tonight - really excited about that. Hope it all comes together well....

Just one more post - really! I finished TGLSET! Hip Hip Hooray! Here's the last of the pages....

Well, finished in the sense of the book - not the story! I took all my wedding/reception pics out of the "bad" magnetic pages and have them in a box waiting for their turn. They might get added to the album - not sure ;) Just happy to be making progress!

We did 54 quarts of peaches today. The girls enjoyed every bit of helping - much to my surprise!

And now my day is done....waiting on the page protectors still! I even brought the mailman in on the search now!

Before I forget - congrats to KC on the potty training! That is really great! Keep up the good work!

Here's a pic of this morning - my work crew: They had such fun - and I'm not sure if you can tell that they got on special "Work dresses" to do their work (well, Taylor at least).

DJ has wanted me to post this for a while. Here is his work crew from a week or so ago (Saturday). I think it's the novelty they are enjoying the most! I did smile when I read DJ's comment about all the things he did for me on Saturday. He is a good sport! Working together and cooperating - each of us doing our best at what we are good at seems to get things done ;)

We're still working on a good Sunday routine. By the time church is done, I'm tired. So while I rest, the girls decorate (trash) the house. I'm thinking I'm going to have to rest out in the living room and do something more to interact with them. :) Anything that works well for you?

Long weekend - in the too busy sense, not the good sense. Oh well! I did crash - and am now in the midst of peaches. Yes - I know DJ is supposed to be doing all the canning - but some things just can't wait for him. I'm doing a bit today and he will do more tonight. So that's what I'm up to. Didn't do a single scrappy page this weekend. :( There's always another day, I guess.

Hoping that my page protector's will come today! These are the ones to finish out the family story album.

So enjoyed reading the blogs today - had to chuckle about Aaron's pants. Been there, done that! Well, hopefully I'll have more for you later, or tomorrow at any rate.

Still don't have the barrack's one done - but I do have some pics for it. Such fun! I do enjoy this process!

Thinking of my family today. Hoping that the Texans will be OK hunkering down. Thinking about family scattered all over....just thinking. Remembering yesterday seven years ago - large (and I do mean large) with child - Mckay came in October. I was visiting teaching and we watched the television. Brings back so many raw memories. Things you try not to think about at times....

So glad school is going well for Lori! You're looking beautiful - as always! I'm a firm believer in changing your major to suit you! Good that you're doing it early rather than suffering through classes that don't work for you.

Thinking of Traci - hoping she'll find her missing documents. My best help for finding lost things - truly is prayer. I try and do it on my own - but it's so much faster when I pray for guidance. Good luck, girl!

Thinking of Kari and Julie both expecting sweet babies.....Special times, those! Wish I was closer to enjoy them with you.

So lots of thinking today. I'm going to work on the last few pages in my Greatest Love Story ever Told book - got to finish something! I woke up thinking about an ancestor page (relating to the guard barraks/cottages as part of Buckingham Palace). Maybe I'll get that done too. Mostly sitting today. DJ was a trooper and helped me can peaches last night. We still have a bunch that aren't ripe yet (a nice ward memeber dropped some off for us). We did 19 quarts in just about 2 hours last night. Not too bad!

So, it seems like I have lots to say - but I forget much of it each day. Have to remember to tell you how touched I was watching Into the Unknown with John Bernstein. He went to Papua New Guinea to visit a tribe that wanted to pass on how they mummify their dead. Only one man in the village knew how to do it - it had been 50 some years since it had been done. So - you wonder why this would touch me. Their respect for their dead, for the traditions involving the preparation for their afterlife - it was real. Their dead after being mummified (in a seated position) are placed up on a cliff shelf to overlook and protect the village. Long story why it had been so long - but the old chief wanted to be up there with his father and needed to teach his village how to do it. So they used a pig - and it was a dehydration/smoking project. Afterward, they examined the current mummies and had an expert come in and teach them how to restore them (exposed to the environment and all) with local materials. Truly interest was rekindled in their dead, as well as preseving this cultural element. The chief was so touched - the things he said reminded me of why I scrapbook - to teach and tell the stories. This is what they did after restoring the mummies. Truly amazing! I know it sounds weird (and felt a bit weird at times) but it was really nice in the feeling conveyed.

Today I was at the Library and then Kaye took me out for birthday lunch. Such fun - at a little local sandwich shop then ice cream at Cold Stone. Yummy! I know - sugar :( but I do make exceptions.

So I have piano lessons starting in about an hour and a half - 5 lessons today :) I really am enjoying it, though. I always have ideas about things that would help them and encourage them - just trying to figure out a good way to present options :) That's my job before lessons today.

I'm up and going....I have 3 minutes until my timer goes off and I have to get up and do something house cleaning wise. Thanks for the correct spelling of those words- I spell them like they sound, not like I should, Aaron. Really it has been a week! I think it's easier to see the hand of the Lord in your life during weeks like this than otherwise. Yesterday I had serious withdrawl/hormone/allergy stuff going on. - so much so that I was in bed from about 2:00 PM on - and DJ was a trooper and watched J & C's kids (like I had volunteered to do) for me. Love you, honey!

I found a missing Middle School ID card - she will be so happy not to have to stand at the back of the line now for lunch. I have no clue how/why these things work the way they did - but the first place I looked today was where it was. Truly a blessing as I am the type to turn the house upside (3 minutes are up) down to find something.

Anyway - I have more to say - so I'll take a quick break and do something useful.....Ok - back now. I'm feeling productive - which is good.

So much to say - an a piano lesson coming up so I'll just get a start and finish later. You have to check this link out: www.flipclips.com They turn a 10-30 second digital video clip into a palm size flip book of the event! How cool is that? It's going on my christmas gift giving list ;) I'm thinking it would be great for a babies first steps, etc. :)

Had friends and family over last night - forgot it was a birthday and just invited them for FHE which made a lot of work for ME. Alas! The evening was wonderful and I picked up a couple of new Spanish words - Durasnos and Uvas (peaches and grapes) - I made juice from these from our garden. :) Fun fun - also N is going to teach Cory and I to cook "real" rice next week. I'm really looking forward to it!

Right now I'm wondering why I didn't just stick with the meds that were working for me? Withdrawls....buzzy face, itchy feet, feeling icky in general. And moody. Hopefully this will all be a memory soon.

Thanks for the comments, as always. I'm with T-Mobile. Costs the same and I can pick 5 numbers that are my favorites and call them anytime for as long as I like for free! Whereas my children are young, that works well for me. :) Also has the free evening and weekend minutes (after 9 pm I think). That style of phone is available in pink, grey, and black. What choice did I really have? I'm trying to add color to my world :)

Also - yes it is paper on wood - easy peasy! I get the boards from a local craft shop (various sizes available), spend just a bit of time designing the design (for lack of a better word), print it off in parts (landscape - wondering though if I can get continuious feed paper in longer format?) and trim it as needed (usually just as I'm pasting it on. For this board I painted the front white (comes just brown) and then started pasting the paper on. I like this process because I can mix and match my fonts and backgrounds - and sort of get the look of vinyl letters - and do it all myself. I use Mod Podge to glue it on (glossy) and then add a top coat. I started to panic thinking that it was bubbling (which it was - the paper I mean) but as it dried the bubbles disappeared (some gentle coaxing which was in vain as the natural process did it for me).

I printed it out the evening before and it took me less than a half-hour to assemble. I'm thinking about doing a name board for a couple getting married. Yes- I am expanding my homemade gift line. Also I have several things starred on my google reader on this blog: http://meggiecat.blogspot.com/

Such fun ideas - some I just enjoy reading about - but others that I want to try someday. Also love the links to various libraries for arty collections. :)

So today is Sunday. Fast Sunday - and I am fasting (a bit unusual for me). I like to give it a try every so often just to see how it goes. I'm not teaching or doing anything really at church other than attending (and playing in Spanish Branch), so it's a good day to try. Usually it's really tough - not the going without food part but the maintaining my energy and mood part. Which reminds me of a story about the other evening.....short version is that I didn't eat regularly enough and my mood went off the chart into crazy land (bad crazy that is). DJ almost ended up sleeping on the couch but the rational corner of my mind said - You really need to eat something - so I did and it made all the difference. I apologized to DJ and all was well again. So I'm on alert today.

I do have a great pic of my birthday surprise to share....Something I had always wanted to do....Wondering what it was? Here's a look:

Yep! Paddleboats. We had seen these at a local park for years - actually even stopped once but they were closed. So - I found the hours and we just went. Half an hour paddling around was wonderful. I highly recommend it - but you might want to bring your own cushions :) if things like that bother you - metal frames in your back, etc. It really was great. One of my requests for my birthday. :)

Well, I have to decide what to wear to church this week. What a blessing - to have more than one choice available. Reminds me of a recent Activity Days where we talked about donations of clothing blessing people worldwide. I assured the kids that the people of Africa did not want their old underwear. As far as I know, (which isn't much) they don't even wear underwear there. I've seen some of those native shows :) Anyway - we made the point that they are lucky to have one outfit that they have to wash daily. I'll go and be grateful and not stress over what I haven't already worn in the last 3 weeks. ;)

Good Morning! I'm up and going. Working on a couple of things for today. I keep thinking that I really need to get in gear on these ancestor pages. However, my Greatest Love Story ever told album still isn't done nor is my A Penny For Your Thoughts album. Too much to do!

I am working on taking it easy. Sort of....

Need to run down to the school - McKay forgot something....:) Maybe I will and maybe she can take it on Monday! Anyway - on with the crazy...Wanted to show you the baby gift I made this morning. What do you think? The colors of the room are light green and white - and she requested no clothes. It's a girl :) In case you can't read it - it says - When babies look beyond you and giggle, maybe they're seeing angels. What a great quote! Anyway - I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out....:0

Just as I was ready to put that pic on we had a crisis here - Rachel had brought her dog today and the cord got ripped out of the controller (has that ever happened to you?) So I needed to
fix it. Here is my little workstation - and yes the dog is again functional. Due to my trusty soldering iron. Fixes many a toys, etc. You can also see my new cell phone - and other various remnants from the mornings activities....

Today has been good - it's my busy day but as I had some computer work to do I thought I'd take a minute and blog. Really I'm waiting for the program to rotate what I'm trying to print out - so it will be landscape instead of portrait. Fewer seams. I'll put a pic on as it's going to be really cute.

Traci, I so enjoy reading your blog but am always left wondering what you're really talking about. Not after the last dog one - of course. But some of the others. I guess that means you draw the reader in - a good thing. Just wanted to let you know I"m thinking of you and really glad I don't have a dog.

I should have said - enough page protectors for the current project - not for ever! Oh well.

Kari - so sorry to hear about your crazy adventures! Hope that finger feels better soon!

Since my last comment on this topic I have gained another new student and DJ might begin teaching one as well. Interesting eh? I really should take the sign down.....I don't know why I haven't yet. Something to think about.

I was so proud of myself at coming up with something I really wanted for my birthday! That can be a real test. I much rather pick out gifts for others....really! And I usually just get what I need/want for myself. But I did come up with 2 things for DJ to get/do for me. We'll see how that goes.....

I should take a picture of my crazy work area - it's gotten ahead of me again!

I'm thinking about toothbrushes today. The electric kind. My batteries in mine were all but worn out. I was still using it, though. I asked DJ to replace them for me, knowing they were about gone. Well, he replaced them and WOW is it really going now! How easy it is for us to forget how zippy the batteries were were fresh. How well it worked! I think it's like that in life too - our eyes adjust to the growing darkness and it's easy to forget the bright light we remember. Anyway - such a small thing but teaches a good lesson. Keep your batteries fresh!

Having fun - cleaning house. It's been a busy time - it's always a busy time I think. Just ordering the last page protectors I'll need (hopefully!).

So who say's I'm not an author? I updated my copy of my blog and found - 430 pages worth in my Word document. 8.5 X 11 (normal size) pages!
Crazy!
Just had to add that. Two new piano students starting this week - 1 adult! 1 piano student going on soccer break - but will be back in about 6 weeks. SO that makes a total of 6 students in all! Very exciting. Also - very close to enough. I hope I recognize enough before I reach more than enough :)

Happy Labor day! It's been a nice day here - and continues to have fun suprises. Such a great time of year - what with cooler temps, etc. We're gearing up for a family bike ride. Such fun!
