26 Feb 2009
Packing continues - a big load leaving tomorrow morning. I'm so glad to be getting things cleared out - just unsure about how it will really go tomorrow....all I have to worry about is this end of things though. The girls and I will stay here while Jared & DJ have a great adventure driving and unloading. Makes me tired thinking of it. I have my piano room cleared out (minus the piano, of course), the living room under control - or rather it will be with the boxes out. Today I'm in the basement and kitchen. SOOOOO much to do! I'm definately feeling the prayers and well wishes of you all! Don't know how I'm doing what I'm doing!
Good news - DJ passed his CDL written test yesterday - so now he has a permit and will begin driving practice next week. Just one more thing we had to get out of the way!
Can't think of anything else to say - so I better go. Lessons today and 2 parent teacher conferences - along with picking up the moving truck! More tomorrow!

I have a lesson coming in a half-hour and need to do a couple more things yet. Sorry it's short....we did have a great time at the planetarium last night :) I told the girls - where we're going there are many more stars to see :) Keep talking positive....
Well, Have a great day - DJ is off at noon so we should make some real progress....pics to come...

Now it's Jared's brick pile :) Let's see...oh yes - a story to tell....
DJ and Jared were working on getting Jared some wood on Thursday afternoon. I dropped DJ off at the site and was headed to pick up the kids from school. On the way back, the suburban was making a funny sound, then I smelled a strange smell, and finally at the stoplight - smoke was coming out in wisps from under the hood. Trouble! (Junie Jones voice taking over) So I quick called DJ and he said pull it right over. Only I couldn't because I was still stopped at the light and in the wrong lane. (Back to me now) As soon as the light changed, I headed through the intersection and pulled into the gas station (after changing lanes). I got the hood popped up and was watching some smoke curls continue. Didn't see any flames so that was good. I was still concerned because where there's smoke there can be fire - so I looked in vain for a fire extinguisher - and found a water bottle so I poured just a little water on it - for my own peace of mind (DJ gave me a disapproving look for this). He and Jared headed right over. Jared took me over to the school as DJ drove the suburban home. Jared had an appointment and couldn't stay so I sent him on his way.
I walked home with Mckay and A. And I was hustling because I had a piano lesson coming. After we got home, DJ took A on home. A lives in a house with his mom and uncle in the basement and another family upstairs. L (the dad upstairs) was injured in a work accident that smashed his foot about a month ago. He was in the hospital for a couple of days for some surgery but has recieved no care since then (we didn't know). Because DJ took A home, he was apprised of the situation and asked if he would help translate and take L to the doctor on Friday morning. Of course, he was happy to help.
L's appointment for physical therapy was a 7:30 am. They took a look at his foot and said they couldn't do anything with it - it needed to heal first. They referred him to a bariatric treatment center. Apparently he was supposed to be recieving treatment all along but hadn't. Didn't even have a caseworker! (Workman's Comp). DJ was with him until he got home about 1:00 pm on Friday. L will continue treatments for the next 6 weeks - 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. What a blessing for him that our rig broke down and DJ took A home and was able to help!
Don't worry about the rig - we replaced that part last year - so it was still under warranty, all we had to buy was a belt. Nate, DJ's brother was over and within 10 minutes they had the part changed - just a few bolts. Truly the Lord works in mysterious ways to help those that need help!
A quick funny...Hinckley found this in one of the little baskets that is now in the bookshelf. Kimball reported to me that she came up to her very seriously, showed her what she had found and informed her "We're rich!" 100 pesos is the biggest denomenation.....:) Made us laugh, though.
And the uncut wood pile is gone! Yeah! DJ's getting ready to sell the wood that's left. We'll leave just a bit for whoever ends up with this great house.
That pretty much catches you up. We're going to another ward today to hear from DJ's aunt and uncle who recently returned from a mission to Africa (can't remember where exactly). Should be interesting! Have a wonderful Sabbath!

Here's the first of the packed boxes - kids books. They just get spread around way too much at this point. So I packed them. We'll still get library books to enjoy while we're here.
We had the nicest family home evening (noche de hogar) at Jared & Cory's last night. We had a birthday party for Shilo. Can't believe she is one already. The pig cake was so cute and tasty (carrot cake). Jared & Cory introduced us to their tradition of the testimony chair. Anyone who wants to can take a turn sitting in the chair bearing their testimony. Everyone but one sat in the chair last night. It was so special to see all my girls bear their testimonies - most for the first time. What a special memory!
Well - I'm off to get going on something else. So much to do! Have a great day - more pics tomorrow!

15 Feb 2009
We are sad about selling this house - we never wanted to move, but it looks like that's what's in store for us. Now the work of getting the house ready to sell begins. I woke up at 7 am (never happens) on my own this morning with my mind reeling with thoughts of what needs to be done. It's pretty interesting thinking of what we can do without when it comes down to it.
I think everyone needs a certain level of trial in your life. I guess my life was going so well, that something new was needed. The girls are coping well with the news - and Spanish Branch will find out today. So many questions still.....but I'm grateful for the peace I feel at this time. I'm not in all-out panic, just a bit worried. It's going to be OK.
Sorry for the missed days. I know everyone enjoys reading what we're up to. I'll do better. The computer will be one of the last things to go....more as we figure it out. Have a peaceful Sabbath!

You can see the little book at the bottom of the image. The above squares have the values in them - and they go in the book. It's going to be really fun!
Well - I've still got a bit to do before tonight - so I better get to it!

Today I'm taking it easy. I've been doing that over the past couple of days too - as much as possible. It does help. I'm so ready for a crash day! Not one in sight, though - so mini crashing on a regular basis.
Haven't read everyone's blogs yet - I do so enjoy them even if I don't comment. Have a great day!

I'm off for now - more later!

5 Feb 2009
Blowing out the candles. It was a really fun day for her. Busy for me - but fun for her. Oh - you can also see goldie in the picture - our goldfish. Hangs on and on....even through some neglect by me. I think everyone else takes good care of her. We've had her since Thanksgiving.
Well, Hinks really enjoyed the birthday cards! Thanks everyone! She was a little disappointed that she couldn't go to school today - after all she is five....but she is really pleased with her present from us - a playroom (under the stairs).
We also went to the treasure store (DI) and picked up an adding machine and some paper for it (for a store) and a scooter (I think that's what they're called). It's been lots of fun.
DJ was a trooper last night and helped me work on the Valentines. He thinks we should just let the kids do easy ones next year. Where's the fun in that?
Enjoyed the blogs this morning - fun to read Regan's and Traci's lists. The one about piecing a quilt - I took that to be one of those crazy strange shape quilts. I've done the basic square. :) Reading Bryan's got me thinking about TV shows I liked back in the day - when I was really young - Mighty Mouse, Tom and Jerry, Brady Bunch, etc. A little older I liked Smurfs, Growing Pains, Family Ties, etc. Older yet I enjoyed Dougie Howser MD, Some computerish character show I can't remember the name of....later on I was into Friends when it first began (and through probably 3 seasons. Fun memories....Of course I still enjoy Fraiser reruns. Sad that Monk is ending....never have gotten into Lost or The Office.
Well, that's about it. Time for lunch here. Hope your day is great!

and http://www.scrapbook-crazy.com/purse-paper-bag-album-instructions.html
We're having way too much fun with our Valentines - but nothing like those crazy flowers from a couple of years ago. Eye patches this year with - Arghhh ya going to be me valentine? on the back. Pencil through the holes.....then they can attach a string and wear them. Maybe I'll attach the string - at least one side. Don't want McKay's teacher angry with me for making too much work for her :)
Also - we're going to make valentines boxes at the next family birthday party. Should be tons of fun! HP web site! Ok - here's the link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/activityCenterHome?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&extcat=invitationsstationery&extsubcat=useyourphotos&extproject=kitchendecorphotorecipecards&
Well, that's about it. Have a great day!

Ingredients:
Chile peppers (in the pre-packaged bags in the store - 1 package or about 10) I don't know that we found 2 different kids of chiles)
4 cloves of garlic (you know the pieces - not the whole thing)
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp cumin
2 tsp. season salt ( I think I forgot to put that in the original recipe...as I was typing)
1 tsp. oregano
1 laurel (bay) leaf
2 bags chile powder - (spanish section of store - not sure exact amt)
1/2 c. vinegar
5 lbs ground pork
Boil the chile peppers until they are soft. Take out of the water and remove the stems (and seeds - depending on how hot/spicy you like it). Put the peppers in the blender with the vinegar and one of the pkgs of chile powder, and other seasonings. Mix well. They call this a mole (molay - pronouciation) sauce. You pour this in with the pork that's in a bowl and add the additional package of chile powder and mix with your hands. You can add a little salt to the pork if you want. Then store in refrigerator, and you can freeze some also. When you want to use chorizo, take out of refrigerator and fry chorizo 15 to 20 minutes or until well done, additing beaten eggs, or beans, or anything you want to add. ** This is not a low-fat food - so keep portion size in mind if you're concerned about that. Really tasty stuff!
It really helps to see them make it - it helped a ton! I'll make this up on a cute recipe card sometime later but wated to give it to you now. Have a great day!

Not to make anyone jealous or anything - but as it's fast Sunday the Branch is doing the potluck after church again :) Such fun - and such tasty food! I think I'm going to type up the recipes and share them with all of you. They are really so good! You wouldn't mind some authentic recipies would you?
Anyway - Better get back to work....or rest or whatever. We're not into SuperBowl here - alas! We'll probably just have a nice evening relaxing playing some family games. Speaking of games - I haven't heard back from Deseret Book....so I might just have to make up the game myself and share it with everyone - maybe that will be Christmas this year ;)
Have a blessed Sabbath!
